How to download the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update

Post by kinerity » Wed Apr 11, 2018 10:24 pm

GHacks has detailed a method to grab the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update (build 17122) directly from Microsoft's servers.

The 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the update are available in the form of ESD (Electronic Software Download) files. The ESD file contains different editions of the update that can be installed on a computer.
  1. Download Wimlib (link).
  2. Extract the zip file using 7zip.
  3. Copy the downloaded ESD file into the extracted folder.
  4. Right-click the file named decrypt.cmd and select "Run as administrator". A command line window will open.

  5. The command line window will list the Windows 10 editions. In most cases, option 2 ("Include one edition") will be sufficient.

  6. If option 2 was selected, type the number corresponding to the Windows 10 edition needed and press "Enter".
  7. Select option 1 ("Create ISO with Standard install.wim").
Once the tool creates the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update ISO file, it can be saved in the same extracted folder.

As a follow-up, Zac Bowden is reporting that 17133 lost it's RTM status due to a serious bug. However, according to Brandon LeBlanc, users that are already on 17133 are "just fine". ;)
